Waves IV

The ocean is not one thing. This painting is the version that stretches out — wide, deep, the full weight of water from here to the horizon. Navy holds the bottom; cerulean moves across the middle; white breaks at the top like light that doesn't stop.

The painting was built horizontally — the brush moving edge to edge in wide, continuous passes, following the logic of the wave. Multiple layers of deep blue first to build the oceanic weight. The lighter cerulean came through the middle. White last, fast and with full commitment.
